Citizens Police Academy

The German Township Police Department offers a Citizens Police Academy to the residents of German Twp. generally in the fall of each year.

The academy covers such topics as criminal vs. civil law, crime scene investigations, evidence collection, patrol, narcotics, firearms safety, domestic violence, and a visit to the firing range. The 10 week course is designed to be hands-on training, with officers instructing for 2½ hours each scheduled Tuesday evening, with the visit to the firing range on a Saturday.  Guest instructors come from other agencies such as the crime lab, prosecutor's office, and CareHouse.

To apply for the Citizens Police Academy, contact Laurie Rohrbach at 855-7215 during weekday hours.

Applicants must be at least age 18 years and pass a background check.
